At Karoomblik, we're not led by technology, we are led by learning. AI and digital tools have an important role to play in modern education, but only when they're chosen deliberately, to serve a clear pedagogical purpose. We design the experience first, and then choose the tools and technology that will serve the learning
During a roadtrip to the Karoo, we developed the idea of a "Karoomblik" A Karoo Oomblik (moment), a South African version of a Fika moment. A reminder to take some time to be quiet and reflect, preferably outdoors. Out best ideas and creative solutions for unique problems are born in these moments .
As "Karoomblik" is such a part of my personal and professional life, we decided to call our company Karoomblik. Reminding us to take a moment and reflect.
Nikki founded Karoomblik, after growing up in Higher Education. With over 20 years of experience within University ecosystems, spanning from school administration to e-learning coordination, she has a "behind-the-scenes" understanding of how institutions breathe. This long-term perspective allowed her to navigate the complexities of academia while staying focused on what truly matters: the student journey.
We believe the best learning experiences are born from deep, authentic collaboration. We truly enjoy "digging in" to understand the unique challenges and nuances of different disciplines. Whether we are working with an AI Committee to guide students on ethical tech or partnering with Infectious Disease specialists to build case-study-led modules, we see ourselves as a bridge between the Subject Matter Expert’s (SME) deep knowledge and the learner’s need for clarity.
Our approach is rooted in the belief that learning should be as practical as it is accessible. From developing QCTO skills programmes for rural practitioners to designing high-end certification courses for international tour leaders, we adapt our process to meet the specific needs of the project. Our goal is always the same: to work seamlessly with project managers, media designers, and technical teams to deliver multimodal, real-world learning that sticks.
